These programs will allow you to play Metasquares again.
A Windows program by Michael Barnathan that allows you to find and play opponents online via IRC. Metasquarer supports skins and plugins. It also features a rating system, an AI, and solo mode.
A Linux program by Lukas Schröder that allows you to find and play opponents online via IRC. Lacks a rating system. Development seems to have ceased.
A Java (and therefore cross-platform) program written by Mazeyar Makoui. This does not allow online play, but it features a very strong AI.
This program is a strong Metasquares AI by an anonymous author. It runs under Windows. Metasquarer is designed to detect it if you attempt to use it in a game against an online opponent.
The original Metasquares program, designed by Scott Kim, Ian Gilman, Phil Clevinger, and others at MetaCreations. This Windows program once had online play, but was unfortunately pulled from AOL in September of 1997. It is mirrored here for reference and as an aid to development of other Metasquares-related programs.
